So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom…
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
– Psalm 90
It really is always the same answer – whether in high seasons or low, mundane seasons or chaos: stay close to Jesus. He is the vine, you are one of the branches. Apart from him, you can do nothing. [1]
Make him your dwelling place. Keep coming back to him. He doesn’t tire of you. He doesn’t ever grow weary. He who watches over you neither slumbers nor sleeps. You are safe with him. [2]
You won’t be in this season forever. God is not surprised by your circumstances, and he has not abandoned you. You are already seen. Keep being reminded – His kingdom is different. He values things you don’t value. And he rewards things you don’t naturally reward. Don’t grow weary.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9
Now, don’t get lost in doing good for the sake of doing good – but get lost in the One who is Good. Let him be the initiator of all things, that you may be filled to overflowing with his love, and that you may operate out of his generosity. He will be with you, and he will tend to you. Trust his process.
He sees your heart, and he cares about the condition of your heart. Let him restore it. Let him be the one to remove your heart of stone and instead give you a heart of flesh. Let him be the one who causes you to walk in his statutes. His good statues. His statues that give life. You matter to him. [3]
He promises to anchor you and feed you like a tree beside water. A constant supply to nourish you for the good works he has prepared in advance for you. [4]
Watch him grow you in wisdom while he changes you. For he generously gives to those who ask. He began a good work in you when he redeemed you from the kingdom of darkness, and he will not fail to bring to completion the work that he has planned. [5]
And perhaps above all, remember that you are loved by him. You are loved beyond what you dare imagine. He is for you more than you dare believe. Remember the cross. Remember his blood. Remember his resurrection. He delighted in welcoming you into his Kingdom. Into his forever home. His home that can never be overthrown. For there is no power greater than his. [6]
Keep coming to him. Keep spending time in his word. Keep believing him. Keep talking to him. Keep listening to him. Keep seeing him. Keep by him. He has got you. [7]
Let him be the one to satisfy you. Let him be the reason you rejoice and are glad. From everlasting to everlasting, He is God. [8]
