There are so many great spiritual resources available to us these days – devotional books, reading plans on the Bible app, sermons, podcasts, books, blogs… it’s a gift be able to learn from other people.
I think it’s also important to not forget that Jesus himself is the Great Teacher. Let us not bypass time in his Word, alone with him, exempt from outside commentary.
My husband and I wouldn’t have intimacy in our marriage if the only time we ever spent together included other people. We’d miss out on the depth of relationship, the inside jokes, the things that only we know about.
Because of Jesus, we can have intimacy with God. We can spend time one-on-one with him. We can have depth of relationship with the Creator himself, letting him speak to us and show us things that are just for us.
With him, we fully known and fully loved.
Show me your ways, O Lord. Teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. – Psalm 25:4-5
