“Do you feel free?” was the question my devotion prompted.
Sometimes, I wrote. But sometimes I feel trapped. Trapped in old behaviors and old patterns of life that I wish weren’t true for me anymore.
I started praying:
Father,
I so often deny my sin. I convince myself that it’s okay and convince myself that I can live how I want and still be close to you.
It’s rooted in a belief that you aren’t really worth it.
Why would I ever believe that, Lord? I know it’s not true. You have always been faithful.
Don’t let me believe those lies, Father. Don’t let my weak faith drive the old habits that lead to shame and that push me away from you.
Help me, Lord.
My child,
I still choose you.
Yes, Lord.
Do you know why I choose you?
To be holy and blameless.
Look up, my child. I don’t remind you to condemn you. I remind you to free you. If I choose you, it’s not by mistake. If I call you to holiness, then I will make it possible.
Don’t underestimate my love.
I planned for you to be adopted into my family through Jesus. It brings me so much joy to have you in my family.
Oh, Father, but I don’t deserve it.
But I love you. And nothing will stop my love. You are forgiven, you are redeemed, you are free.
The battle is already won.
You need to accept these words for they are trustworthy and true.

There’s nothing special about me. I only share this post because these words are for anyone who is in Christ Jesus, anyone who believes in Him.
… whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16b

Consider:
Do you feel free?
Do you believe that God loves you, that his words are true? Spend some time in prayer, and write out God’s response.

Read:
Ephesians 1:3-10
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he proposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment – to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
1 John 3:1
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
John 8:36
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Revelation 21:5
He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
