Depths and Peaks

If we feel lost in the depths, we are in his hands. If we’re on a mountain peak, the glory belongs to him. If we think we’re lost at sea, we’re still within his creation. If we’re resting steady on solid ground, it is land he formed.

He’s got us.

John 6:18-20
A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough… they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on water; and they were terrified. But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”

Mark 4:37-41
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Isaiah 43:1-3
But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior”

Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
